Animal
Chiropractic:
Chiropractic care has been an important part
of human medicine for decades. In the past twenty years it has become an
important part of veterinary care. A chiropractic adjustment is a gentle
treatment that corrects mechanical problems. It works to align the joints,
relieve associated muscle and nerve dysfunction, with the ultimate goal of
restoring healthy mechanical function. Animal chiropractic can help animals
with disc disease, arthritis, back and neck pain, pain associated with hip dysplasia, TMJ, and animals who’ve
been injured or have developed weaknesses or trouble getting up or moving.
Chiropractic is especially useful after falls or injuries, after surgery, or
dental procedures. Our
chiropractor,
Dr. Julie Kaufman, is a licensed chiropractor and Dr. Dawn Mogilevsky,
a licensed veterinarian are both certified through the American
Veterinary Chiropractic Association. Dr. Julie
has been practicing large and small animal chiropractic since 1989, and
Dr. Dawn, since 2003, though she has been a veterinarian for over 15
years.
Acupuncture and
Chinese Herbs:
Acupuncture is the stimulation of specific points on the body using fine
needles to release neurotransmitters, (brain chemicals), that decrease pain.
Acupuncture increases the body’s natural pain killers, (endorphins).
Acupuncture treatments increase the body’s immune system, relieve pain, and
increase an animal’s energy and well being. Acupuncture is often used for
musculoskeletal problems such as arthritis, muscle soreness, or disc disease,
as well as relieving post-surgical pain and shortening healing. In addition,
acupuncture is also effective for gastro-intestinal problems such as ulcers,
diarrhea or constipation, and chronic conditions such as kidney disease,
geriatric weakness, respiratory problems, seizures, skin disease, thyroid and
endocrine diseases, and hormonal imbalances. Our Acupuncture and Chinese herbal
specialists are Dr. Lynne Dennis and Dr. Jody Bearman. Dr. Lynne is a veterinarian who graduated from
NCSU-CVM in 1993 has been certified by The Chi Institute of Chinese Medicine
since 2003. Dr. Jody Bearman
Animal
Communication:
Animal
Communicators are Asia Voight and Kim Janus. Both are nationally recognized
for their superb intuitive healing work with large and small animals.
Veterinarians, animal professionals, and animal owners alike covet our communicator's unique
gift to “hear” what animals are saying about their environment, their health
and their relationship to you. Communicators are often able to solve behavioral problems
and uncover health problems that have gone undetected. If you are wondering
what your animal has to tell you, then a session with Asia Voight
will be an amazing experience.
Massage and
Reiki: Massage is a relaxing technique that helps rid
the body of waste products. It increases oxygen flow and releases tension
throughout the body. Massage helps prevent injuries by keeping muscles pliable,
relaxed and healthy. Enhance your animal’s athletic performance, reduce stress,
increase circulation and aid in recovery from soft tissue injuries, or just
treat your animal to a day at the “spa”. Our massage therapist, Rita Wilhelm, Animal Massage Therapist, Reiki Master Teacher provides animal Reiki, a gentle energetic healing touch.
Holistic and Nutritional consultations: Our
veterinarians are available in person and by telephone to go over your
animal's medical history and diagnosies to help you make decisions on
natural approaches to health care. We strive to offer unique solutions
as we work with your regular veterinarian to provide quality options to
address your animal's health needs.
